RTD error

Hi Govert,

I have run into a issue where in the IRTDUpdateEvent.UpdateNotify started to fail. The problem arise when I installed Thomson Reuters Client. But the problem seems to persist even after uninstalling the reuters client. I have a feeling something has been messed up due to this installation. Here is the stacktrace of the error from the event logs

Application: EXCEL.EXE
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.InvalidCastException
at System.StubHelpers.StubHelpers.GetCOMIPFromRCW(System.Object, IntPtr, IntPtr ByRef, Boolean ByRef)
at ExcelDna.Integration.Rtd.IRTDUpdateEvent.UpdateNotify()

From what I found on the web, people are suggesting a Office re-install/repair. Or is there an alternative to resolve this?

Hi Ganesh,

You should certainly report this to Reuters. They are welcome to contact me at govert@icon.co.za if they would like to explore the possible conflict further.

You can try to get Excel to re-register its COM entries by using the /o switch:
'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\EXCEL.EXE' /o

Otherwise the Office repair might be worth a try.

Thanks Govert. Office repair did the trick. All fine now.

Were you able to report the issue to Reuters?
It might help you and others in future if they know there might be a conflict.
